Expertise

A scavenger of instructional strategies, Valerie is perhaps not an expert so much as an adventurer, willing to experiment with technologies and innovative approaches to facilitate the participation of students in constructing their knowledge of literature. Over the years, however, her work supporting teachers during emergency remote online learning has pushed her to focus on the use of technologies in the classroom, particularly to support active learning as well as the assessment of writing. In addition, she was the co-principal investigator in a study of blended learning at the cegep level titled BLAST: Blended Learning Assets for Students and Teachers, which was the recipient of an ECQ grant in 2022. Currently, Valerie’s principal area of interest is the pedagogical challenges that have emerged in the field of literature due to the implementation of the French Exit Exam in English cegeps.
