Active Learning Activities

Active learning activities are tailored to specific learning outcomes and content. They incorporate one or more of the evidence-based strategies. Structured to expose their theoretical underpinnings, the activities can be used by practitioners and researchers alike.

STEM Health science

Students engage in a virtual simulation using therapeutic techniques, risk assessment, and interventions.

STEM Mathematics

Students are given four 2-stage tests throughout a semester; 1st stage written individually, 2nd students work in groups.

Interdisciplinary

Students collaborate to create a historical timeline for a country they will soon be travelling to.

STEM Health science

Student groups will generate an assigned patient profile and care plan by using AI, verify the references and present.

Mathematics

In teams, students explore the binary number system and create parameters for an octal number system.

Biology Health science

In teams, students will build a pedigree chart and determine inheritance patterns using inclusive pedigree practices.

Social sciences Applied arts Health science

The purpose of this activity is to familiarize students with the potential of online tools for problem-solving.

STEM Mathematics

1st stage students complete a test individually, 2nd stage students work in small groups on an exam question of their choice.
