Designing and Implementing Immersive VR Experiences in CEGEP Classrooms: A Collaborative Model

This session presents the collaborative design and classroom implementation of immersive virtual reality (VR) experiences at Dawson College. Developed with game designers and informed by psychology and biology faculty, these VR modules provide experiential simulations of psychological conditions and gamified sensory-based learning in biology. The presentation outlines the development process, classroom management strategies, and observed outcomes for students and teachers. Participants will gain practical insights for integrating VR meaningfully into CEGEP-level courses.

Gamified Neurophysiology Education: Inclusive, Community-Engaged Approaches Using Low-Cost Electrophysiology Tools

The ThinkSci Outreach Program, founded at McGill University, expands access to neurophysiology through gamified, learner-centered, hands-on electrophysiology. In this 35-minute workshop, participants act as neurophysiologists, recording real-time neural signals from live tissue using the low-cost SpikerBox. Through collaborative, design-thinking challenges, attendees engage in active, inquiry-driven learning. Led by diverse trainees, ThinkSci integrates near-peer mentorship and inclusive practices to reduce barriers and foster belonging, scientific identity, and enthusiasm for neuroscience among underrepresented students.
