Using Active Learning to Teach Active Learning: Pedagogical Best Practices for Teacher Education
This session examines how teacher educators at the University of Toronto use active learning to teach active learning, drawing on findings from the ENCORE Lab’s study of three active learning classrooms. The presentation highlights common instructional practices, the role of space and tools, and outcomes showing improved teacher‑candidate attitudes and increased practicum adoption of active learning. Participants will engage in collaborative design activities and reflective revision to experience how active learning pedagogy can effectively model itself in teacher education.

Draw Your Think
Visual thinking is a powerful tool for learning, problem-solving and communication. In this workshop, we explore processes and methods to apply visual thinking across disciplines and to integrate it at various levels of course work with Active Learning strategies. We especially welcome participants from disciplines not typically associated with the production of visual work. Bring your favourite drawing tools to the workshop! Additional supplies will be available for attendees to participate in the workshop activities.
