Interactive Session
Session I-03 - Topics: Video Rubrics helping Students; Strategies to Implement Mastery Grading
Video Rubrics: Helping Students Make Sense of Assessment Criteria
A video rubric is an interactive video in which teachers record themselves explaining an assignment’s instructions and guidelines. The interactivity comes when students are prompted with questions throughout the video. This tool is designed to support students in writing and to mitigate the time gap between the teacher delivering instructions and the student completing the assessment. The presenters will share their experiences designing video rubrics and report the students’ perspectives of the pedagogical tool on their learning and stress.
Practical Strategies to Implement Mastery Grading
Mastery grading offers promise in addressing the shortcomings of traditional grading, whether it be better accuracy, student engagement, or improved learning. But beyond the education theory, how do you actually implement mastery grading in your course? Join our workshop to explore mastery grading models and their trade offs. This workshop is perfect for teachers looking to implement mastery in their own teaching but don’t know where to start.
