Interactive Session
Session I-05 - Topics: Inclusion en génie; Collaboration with Contemplative Pedagogy

Imagining Possibilities for Collaboration, Courage and Care with Contemplative Pedagogy
In an increasingly fractured world, how can we cultivate deeper, more connected ways of learning? Contemplative practices and pedagogy (CP&P) offers a response by engaging the ‘whole person’ – mind, body, and spirit – in teaching and learning. At Concordia, a community of faculty, staff and students has been exploring CP&P for several years. This group emerged in response to the isolation experienced with remote work and teaching. Now meeting monthly, it is a space for stillness and reflection, centering values of courage, collaboration and care within a large urban higher education institution. We expanded this project into a workshop series exploring the intersections of CP&P with diverse perspectives including trauma-informed and culturally relevant pedagogies. Additionally, we co-created an open educational resource documenting practices and insights that emerged from our gatherings to share with – and beyond – our community. We invite attendees to join us in a contemplative session reflecting on this project and imagine possibilities for integrating courage, collaboration and care into their own work. Participants will reflect on why collaboration, courage and care are important to themselves, identify conditions and pathways to cultivate these values, and articulate a concrete practice or action to integrate after the session.
