Symposium
Session S-09 - Bridging the Disciplinary Divide: Culminating Insights from a Multi-Institutional Interdisciplinary Research-Practice Partnership
June 02, 2026 | 3:00 - 4:15 PM
Room: E-4025
This symposium presents the culminating findings from a multi-year project investigating interdisciplinary teaching and learning in Quebec colleges. We share insights from designing course pairings in Science and Social Science, focusing on how students navigate cross-cutting concepts like energy. Presenters discuss the development of tools to assess epistemic beliefs for students and teachers, the challenges of linguistic reconciliation across disciplines, and the impact of Research-Practice Partnerships on pedagogical development. We conclude with evidence-based principles for institutionalizing sustainable interdisciplinary pedagogy.
