Teaching and Academic Programs (TAP)
Jasmine Parent is an educational developer and digital learning designer within the Teaching and Academic Programs (TAP) unit at McGill University. She has served as the primary TAP lead for blended course development across a wide range of Faculties, working closely with instructors to design learning experiences grounded in strong pedagogical foundations and research from the learning sciences.
Jasmine currently leads the Teaching and Learning Community for Generative AI, a university wide initiative engaging more than 80 instructors from across disciplines. In an environment where many instructors are understandably hesitant to change or to engage with emerging technologies, Jasmine has demonstrated courage and leadership by taking on complex, and at times challenging, conversations. She consistently puts learning before technology, creating thoughtful, collegial spaces where faculty can critically reflect on GenAI through pedagogical and ethical lenses rather than feeling pressured to adopt tools prematurely.
Jasmine embodies the values at the heart of SALTISE’s mission. Her work is firmly grounded in evidence based practice, and her commitment to thoughtful educational development ensures that change is purposeful and meaningful. She is unfailingly generous with her time, consistently saying yes to requests for support, including last minute meetings to address pedagogical concerns. While she may describe herself as shy, Jasmine is deeply engaged, insightful, and a genuine joy to work with. Her professionalism and kindness foster trust and calm across faculty consultations and learning communities.
